Dr. Coté and Ebrahim Mansaray will co-present a symposium at the Association of Black Psychologists National Convention: Homecoming: (Re)Claiming Our Divine African - Knowing, Being, Doing, & Belonging in Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. Coté will be a guest lecturer in the “Advocacy and Social Justice Course” with Ph.D. students in Clinical Psychology at California Northstate University. He will be discussing considerations in conducting healing work with BIPOC and SGL/LBGT+ persons.
Dr. Coté will be presenting at the University of California, Santa Barbara’s Clinical Seminar Series discussing the foundational tenets of African centered Psychology and exploring the clinical applications working alongside Black SGL/LGBT+ persons.
Dr. Coté will be joining the TransFamily Alliance community to discuss transitional opportunities for transgender, non-binary, and gender-expansive young adults.
For the Association of Black Psychologists’ (ABPsi) Annual Convention, Dr. Coté will participate in an Mbongi gathering with fellow friends and colleagues to discuss the reunification of Black LGBTQ+ people and African-centered thought.
Dr. Coté will be on a panel with two other brilliant scholars and psychologists discussing his experiences and optimal holistic health perspectives regarding our community of Black LGBT+ persons.
Dr. Coté will be guest lecturing on sex and gender in development for California Northstate University psychology doctorate students.
This event is specifically for university students who are trans, transgender, non-binary, genderqueer, gender non-conforming, gender questioning, agender, gender creative, gender fluid or elsewhere on the gender spectrum.
Dr. Coté will be providing a presentation in the SVPA Training Series on Diversity & Multicultural Issues in Psychology and Psychotherapy.
This training aims to help practitioners explore Standards of Care in working with diverse transgender and gender creative adults (e.g., non-binary, genderqueer, agender individuals) seeking medical intervention. The training also addresses key elements within ecological behavioral health assessment.
The 6th Annual No Time to Lose Conference is a professional conference to help activate change for LGBTQ Youth.
NorCal T-Camp, a weekend-long retreat, is an intercampus retreat for university scholars to explore gender identity and expression and to engage in dialogue with peers.
Dr. Coté's practical, interactive, and engaging presentation aims to assist clinicians in feeling more grounded in providing care for transgender and gender diverse clients who seek gender transition support.
Dr. Coté has been invited to share space with students and also dialogue about embodying authenticity.
This training will provide an overview of how to promote culturally competent mental health care for gender diverse students.
In this mindfulness workshop, participants will have the opportunity to expand their understanding of stress. Participants will also experiment with mindful approaches to address life stressors and uncomfortable feelings related to navigating in a world of intersecting social oppressions. Through reflection, group dialogue, and gentle yoga and breathing practice, participants will have the opportunity to refresh and re-ground. No prior yoga experience necessary. Please dress comfortably.
