Making Room For Authenticity

  • "Gender therapy is not simply about surgery or hormones or even transition. It is not really about "becoming" something as much as it is about allowing the false parts of self to recede so that an authentic self can emerge" - Arlene Istar Lev, 2004

Making room for authenticity often involves a process of letting go. Depending on the person, what a person lets go of could be a variety of things, including self-disdain, shame, guilt, and other feelings that sometimes accompany a false sense of self.

  • What are you willing to put down to make room for authenticity and a renewed sense of well being and personhood?

This rigorous practice of letting go requires great trust, can be full of grief/loss and also is a wonderful opportunity to fully emerge.
